Cricket: ZEK: Quivive Zat1 v/s Concordia (14-May-2016)
The match started with a hint of rain around the corner so it was reduced to 35 overs per side. Captain Jan Willem won the toss and chose to bat
The opening pair of Hemanth and Faisal gave a good and steady start with a healthy runrate of 6. As both the batsmen got a hang of the bounce of the wicket they kept scoring in boundaries but unfortunately a throw from deep fielder was missed by the keeper and struck Hemant’s eye and was forced to retire on 38. Faisal and Aakarshith steadied the innings after that unfortunate event but eventually Faisal’s batting came to an end when he missed an inswinging Yorker and was clearly struck in front of the wicket. Soon Aakarshith was bowled by Hitesh while trying to go over the top. Later, Shrisai and Sumedh carried on with the innings. Shrisai smashed every bowler all over the park while Sumedh at the other end struggled facing the spinners. Shrisai scored a blistering 46 which included 7 Fours and a six. Later Prashanth played a little cameo with his 24 which included a tremendous inside out shot over covers for a six. In the death overs Rajeev tried to play an attacking innings and one of his mistimed hook went for a six. At the end of the innings we ended up with a total of 220 for 6.
Qui Vive Innings
Qui Vive’s openers started off on a wrong foot as they were struggling to take singles, thanks to Pallav’s accurate and consistent bowling. At the other end Phani also bowled decently and kept the pressure on the batsmen. Both Phani and Pallav took 2 wickets each. Jan’s flighted deliverys and Prashanth’s zippers sent three batsmen to the pavilion with Jan picking all the three wickets. Qui Vive’s innings was wrapped up by a stunning catch by Anthony at fine leg of Sumedh’s bowling which gave a Concordia a victory with a huge margin of 116 runs.
